Residential Life Advisors (RLAs) are seniors who have been hand-picked as hall leaders for the 2026-2027 school year. They help with move-in, getting Juniors acclimated to life at NCSSM, run programs, and serve as your guide and a part of your support system through out your time at NCSSM.
Hello! My name is Bear Anthony and I am very excited to be a 1st Hill RLA this year. I am from Mooresville and I enjoy working out, playing video games, and chatting with my friends. My favorite places in Durham are the Harris Teeter, Koi, and my beloved Eno River. Some of my favorite hall events have been open gyms, a trip to the Eno River (which I hope we do multiple times this year), and random game nights in the study lounge. Recently i’ve really gotten into exercise sciences and bodybuilding so if you have any interest in learning about that let me know.
Hello! my name is Neelabh Kakade and I'm really excited to be one of your 1st Hill RLAs for the 26-27 school year. I'm from Apex, NC and my previous school was Apex High School. In my free time, I like to hang out with friends, listen to music, and play badminton. I also love to watch horror movies (I recommend Incantation) and eating at the restaurants on 9th Street (specifically Chicken Bee and Bahn's). Some of my favorite music artists are Brent Faiyaz and Bruno Mars, but I'm down for a recommendation if you have one. I'm super excited for the coming year and can't wait to meet a lot of new people!
Hi guys! My name is Benjamin Ku and I'm very excited to be your RLA. I am from Fayetteville NC. In my free time I like listening to KRnB, playing games, and hanging out with friends. Excited to meet you all, don't hesitate to dm me up if you have any questions or if you just wanna hang out!

At 1:30-2:30pm on Junior Move-In Day, the juniors will be on hall or with their RLAs while the CCs meet with their juniors' families. The First Hill junior family meeting will be in Hill 03, which is a classroom on the ground floor of hill. You can either meet us on hall at 1:20pm and we'll walk down together or you can find it on your own using the video guide on the left. You can take the central stairs near the front entrance of Hill, the elevator on First Hill, or enter the ground floor from the side entrance by the Bike Shed and patio.
We are excited to welcome you back to campus on Sunday, August 16 from 1:30-4:30 PM. I will be available on hall with room keys, access passes, and RCR forms when seniors return. RCR forms need to be completed, signed by a parent/guardian, and returned before parents/guardians leave campus. As always, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
As a reminder, RLAs will return to campus early on Sunday, 8/4 and certain Senior leaders will return to campus on Wednesday, 8/7. Senior leaders are encouraged to reach out to their sponsors/supervisors for more information about move in and for their Senior leadership training schedule.
